Biography
Melbourne-born Charlie Wu studies piano with Glenn Riddle at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. In 2023, he was selected to represent Australia at the 5th Zhuhai International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians, China. He was awarded the title of Diplomate at the 2024 Grand Piano Competition in Moscow where he made his orchestral debut performing Mendelssohn’s Concerto No. 1 with the Svetlanov Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Ivan Nikiforchin.
In 2024, Charlie was awarded the LMusA Diploma in Piano with Distinction. His achievements in Australia include First Prize at the 2025 Boroondara Open Age Piano Concerto Competition and First Prize at the 2024 PolMusicA National Polish Music Competition. Internationally, he won Third Prize at the 2026 Hilton Head International Piano Competition in South Carolina, USA.
Charlie has appeared in solo recitals presented by St Paul’s Cathedral, Scots Church Music Matinees and the Diamond Creek Concert Series, among others. An enthusiastic chamber musician, he also serves as principal second violin of the Caulfield Grammar School Orchestra.
