Biography
Richard Rait was born in 2010 in Chelyabinsk, Russia. He grew up and received his early musical education in Switzerland, and from 2020 continued his studies at the Conservatório Regional do Algarve in Faro, Portugal (class of Oksana Anikeeva). Since 2024, he has been a student at the Musica Mundi School in Waterloo, Belgium (class of Professor Jacques Rouvier). He has taken part in masterclasses with Natalia Trull, Mira Marchenko, Dmitri Alexeev, Jacques Rouvier, Arie Vardi, Vincenzo Balzani, Andreas Frölich, and Olga Kern.
He is a prizewinner of the César Franck International Piano Competition in Brussels (2023), as well as competitions in Lisbon, Porto, and Tavira (Portugal, 2022–2023). His awards also include prizes at the Maria Herrero International Piano Competition in Granada (II Prize, 2023), MozArte International Piano Competition in Aachen (III Prize, 2025), and competitions of Spanish composers and WPTA Spain in Madrid (III Prizes, 2026).
